Advance Vocabulary



Lesson One of Advance Vocab.


  1. abandon : leave without planning to come back, quit, desert. For example ->  When Raisa abandoned her family, all her family went looking for her.
  2. keen : sensitive, intense, eager, sharp. For example -> Bill's keen mind pleased all his teachers.
  3. jealous : afraid that the one you love might prever someone else, wanting what someone else has. For example -> A detective was hired by the jealous widow to find her boyfriend who had abandoned her.
  4. tact : ability to say the right things. For example -> Your friends will admire you if you use tact and thoughtfullness.
  5. oath : a promise that something is true, curse. For example -> In court the witness took an oath that he would tell the whole truth.
  6. vacant : empty, not filled. For example -> The government is planning to build a sport center on that vacant lot.
